Daily Chat: Thanks, Brett

THANKS, BRETT
The Vikings brought in former 49ers and Titans receiver Brandon Jones and former Packers/Broncos/Raiders receiver Javon Walker for workouts.

Jones has had such an illustrious career that you can’t find any highlights of him on YouTube.

Not so for Javon Walker. [Watch a clip.]

Walker, on the other hand, has done some damage in the league, his best season coming in 2004 with the Green Bay Packers and with Brett Favre throwing the ball to him. That year he racked up 1,382 yards on 89 receptions for a 15.5 yard average and scored 12 times.

Career year. It was his third in the league.

The following season, Walker held out for more money, missing time in minicamp. But that didn’t sit too well with some of his teammates.

“If Javon wants to know what he quarterback thinks, and I would think he might, I’d tell him he’s going about this the wrong way,” Brett Favre told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. “When his agent tells him not to worry about what his teammates think and all that stuff, I’d tell him I’ve been around a long time and that stuff will come back to haunt you.”

Walker caved to the pressure from his quarterback and promptly blew out his ACL, blowing away his season and any contract leverage he may have had.

CHATTER
The collective wisdom of the professional Vikings chatterers is that Sage Rosenfels was likely the anonymous source for Yahoo!’s The Players Got No Respect For Childress story by Jason Cole. Rosenfels certainly is a logical suspect, considering where he is on the depth chart and how he hasn’t really had a chance to move up since arriving in Minnesota.
